About Silently Serving

Silently Serving is a ministry founded by Ariel and Heather Lara in 2011 in Siguatepeque, Comayagua, Honduras, C.A., where there is a desperate need for both quality education and Christian values.

Teachers in both Christian and secular schools, Ariel and Heather believe in showing the way to Christ, rather than just preaching it. The young couple has dedicated their lives to silently serving as living witnesses to their Lord by giving 100 percent to the schools and their programs, and God has rewarded them with a vision.

In February 2013, Ariel and Heather established an after-school tutoring center in their home. They teach the foundation their students need for a good education. They also share the values that help their students find their way to become Disciples of Christ and live Christian lives. In this new year of 2015, Ariel and Heather want to grow their vision and move the tutoring center into a building of its own. This building would be a major step toward the ultimate vision God has for Silently Serving.

While there are other private schools in the area, their classrooms are full and many children are being turned away, forced to attend crowded public schools with limited resources or they do not attend school at all. Silently Serving’s goal is to establish Siguatepeque’s first bono fide tutoring center with one-on-one attention to individual students, as well as a Christian Bilingual School that teaches a high level of education. The school would also offer Spanish tutoring for English-speaking teachers who come to Honduras to serve at other schools. Most importantly, the school would teach true Christian values so that the Silently Serving ministry and its students will be known for walking in the light of Christ.

Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.Matthew 5:16
